The police barricades closing all roads leading to Galatasaray Square to prevent the sit-in protest of the Saturday Mothers have been lifted.

Istanbul- Saturday Mothers, who gathered at Galatasaray Square every Saturday to ask the fate and whereabouts of their enforced disappeared loved ones, confronted a police barricade at the square on August 25, 2018, on their 700th week. Police attacked them by using tear gas and rubber bullets. The police barricades at the square were lifted last evening. Saturday Mothers haven't been allowed to enter the area for 160 weeks.

Human Rights Association (IHD) Istanbul Branch President Gülseren Yoleri visited the square today. “Galatasaray Square becomes free today. We are very happy. We hope that the state acts by knowing its responsibilities,” Gülseren Yoleri said that they will be at the square with Saturday Mothers this week on Saturday.
