People of Shengal issued a statement in front of Sinunê City Courthouse and demanded the abducted Êzidî women to be rescued.

Shengal - Daesh attacked Shengal on August 3, 2014. 11.017 people were abducted and captured in Shengal, according to official reports. More than 3,000 people have been rescued but thousands have been held captive.

People of Shengal issued a statement in front of Sinunê City Courthouse today and they demanded the abducted Êzidîs, mostly children and women, to be rescued.

Pointing out that nothing has been done for the abducted women and children, Samya Qaskim said, “Seven years have passed since the decree was carried out against us but nothing has been done for Êzidî women and children abducted by ISIS. Instead of rescuing Êzidîs, the Iraqi government welcomes the families of ISIS without judging them. We don’t accept the silence of the Iraqi government. As people living in these lands, we demand our rights. We demand that something should be done for us and that our resistance should be heard.”

A young woman from Xanesor town named Nazdar said, “Our captured women should be rescued, and we should do something for them. No one has faced what we have faced. This must end now.”
