Manbij- The Democratic Civil Administration held an event in Mabij to celebrate its 5th anniversary in the city.

Photographs of those who lost their lives during the liberation of the city from ISIS were hung on the walls of the hall, where the event was held. Arab, Turkmen, Kurdish, and Circassian citizens who participated in the event, wore their traditional clothes.

Nezifa Xelo, Co-chair of the Democratic Civil Administration in Manbij made a speech at the event. “Five years have passed since we established our administration. Five years may be a short time but we learned many things and overcome many difficulties during that period. We will continue to move forward,” she said in her speech.

“Freedom is a beautiful feeling”

Women taking part in the Democratic Civil Administration also made speeches at the event. Cihan Xedro was one of them. “As the peoples and women of North and East Syria, we have gone through very difficult times. We still face occupation attempts.  We have no choice but to resist and protect our lands,” she said in her speech.

“Autonomous administration has given us hope. If we didn’t liberate our city, probably we would still be in our homes, in the darkness of ISIS. We have achieved many gains and I believe that we will achieve more. Freedom is a beautiful feeling,” Îksar Ehmed, one of the women making speeches, said.

The event ended after dancing halay.
