Mardin- 85-year-old Türkiye İldem, a member of the Peace Mothers Movement, died of a heart attack yesterday (May 15) in the Kızıltepe district of Mardin province. She was buried in the Kızıltepe Mesopotamya Cemetery.

In 2007, Türkiye İldem went to Kandil to see her son joining the PKK. On her return to Turkey, she was detained. On July 15, 2008, she was sentenced to jail on charges of “being a member of an (terrorist) organization” and sent to prison. She was released from prison on March 21, 2012.
