Mardin- Hamdiye Şimdi, a member of the Peace Mothers’ Initiative, died in Artuklu, district of Mardin, on Tuesday at the age of 80. According to the reports, she was transferred to a hospital several days ago but she died at the hospital on Tuesday.

Hamdiye Şimdi’s son Necati Şimdi (Nom de guerre: Cuma) was a member of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). He was killed in a clash that broke out in the Çîyayê Bizin area of Gabar when Turkish forces attacked the guerilla group withdrawing upon the call of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in August 1999. His body has not been delivered to his family yet. Hamsiye Şimdi had been waiting to receive information from her son for years.
