Panel in Shahba stresses objection to Turkish occupation policies

Participants at the Future Syria Party’s seminar in Shahba canton confirmed that the Turkish occupation poses a threat to the entire country.

Shahba – Participants in the panel held by the Future Syria Party and the councils of Afrin and Shahba, NE Syria, said they believed that the Syrian crisis could not be resolved in a radical way as long as the Turkish occupation exists, emphasizing that the attacks are directed at all Syrian territories.

On June 12, the Future Syria Party and the councils of Afrin and Shahba held a seminar with the motto, "No to Division, No to Settlement.” The seminar focused on the history of societies facing many changes and annihilations, either by harsh total transformations at the level of existential physiological degeneration or extermination, or by good fortune.

“Turkey aims to revive the Ottoman Empire”

Ghazala Alo, a member of the Free Women Council in Shahba, made a speech at the seminar and stated that the Turkish state aims to revive the Ottoman Empire by constructing settlements, changing the demography structure of the region, trying to occupy more areas in Syria and imposing a Turkification policy.

She emphasized that the Turkish initiative, as well as any plans aimed at controlling the region, will fail due to the unity and solidarity of all groups in Shahba.

Ghazala Alo called on all guarantor countries and everyone engaged in the Syrian issue to speak out against the Turkish occupation and attacks in northeastern Syria.

“The Syrian crisis will not be resolved with Turkish presence”

“All political groups in the region know that the Syrian crisis will not be resolved with the Turkish presence,” said Lamia Al-Mohammed, a participant from the Syrian Democratic Council.

“Turkish threats preceded the attacks, as happened in Afrin, Serkaniyê, and Girê Spî. The aim of the Turkish state is to divide the Syrian lands and impose the policy of Turkification,” she added, highlighting the human rights violations faced by the residents of the occupied areas. "Rights violations committed by the Turkish state are not new, and the international community must realize the risk being posed by the Turkish state.”

“Turkey aims to revive the Ottoman Empire”

Roshen Abdo, a member of the Free Women's Council in Shahba, spoke out against the rights violations and inhuman practices being committed by the Turkish state in the occupied areas and stated that they do not accept the Turkish presence in Syrian territory.

"The threats and attacks of the Turkish state on the territories of northeastern Syria target all Syrian territories. The Turkish state aims to revive the Ottoman Empire by occupying Syrian territories,” she said.
