Over 88,000 cases of sexual abuse by Taliban militants documented since 2021

88,455 cases of sexual abuse by Taliban militants against women have been documented over the past two and a half years, according to a new report by civil society activists and human rights groups in Afghanistan.

News Center- Since seizing control of Afghanistan in August 2021, the Taliban have violated the human rights of women and girls. On Tuesday, Afghan civil society activists and human rights groups published a 47-page report on rights violations against Afghan women since 2021.

88,455 cases of sexual abuse by Taliban militants against women have been documented over the past two and a half years, the report said.

The report documented 14,812 cases of sexual abuse by Taliban militants against children since August 2021. “At least 70,000 people disappeared in the past two and a half years,” the report said.

In the report, the civil society activists and human rights groups expressed their raising concerns about the situation of Afghan women and called on international organizations to “urgently pay attention to the deteriorating situation of women in Afghanistan.”
