Social South Team consists of 20 people. We spoke to Haneen Judeh, a member of the South Social Team, about their online campaign. “We share photos, videos, text, and even some designs to reach more people. We work with designers, content creators, photographers, and social media users to draw attention to gender-based violence,” she told us.

2 million people support the campaign

Stating that the aim of the campaign is to raise awareness about gender-based violence, Haneen Judeh said, “We try to tell women, who are subjected to violence that there are centers protecting them. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, domestic violence has increased so one of the main aims of the campaign is to reduce the phenomenon of violence in Palestinian society. Activation of the family protection law to punish offenders and prevent perpetrators is a key theme of the campaign. Two million people supported the campaign on Twitter only in a day. We want to reach more people to raise awareness about gender-based violence.”
