Istanbul- The Democratic Society Congress (DTK), the Free Women’s Movement (TJA) and the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) have determined the date and place for Newroz celebration in Istanbul.

 Yesterday, the Newroz declaration was announced in Amed. “Newroz will turn into a fire of the ‘Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish question’ campaign. It is the time to ensure the physical freedom of Kurdish leader Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. It is time to rise up for freedom and victory,” the declaration said. This year’s Newroz will be celebrated at Istanbul’s Yenikapı Square on March 17, at 1pm. People’s Democratic Congress (HDK) Co-spokesperson Esengül Demir and DEM Party Co-chair Tuncer Bakırhan will make a speech at the celebration.

 The singers and musicians, who will take the stage on March 17 are: Tunisian singer, songwriter and musician Emel Mathlouthi, Mikail Aslan, Murat Demir and Gölgedekiler musical group.
