A new 3-month lawyer and family visit ban has been issued against Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and Hamili Yıldırım, Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysi Aktaş, who have been imprisoned in the prison island of Imrali along with Abdullah Öcalan.
New Center- No news has been received from Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held in an aggravated isolation in the prison of Imrali, for 40 months. Although his lawyers and family members have applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and Imralı Prison Directorate to meet with him many times, they have not been allowed to see him.
On July 4, 2024, his lawyers were informed that a new 3-month lawyer and family visit had been issued against Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and Hamili Yıldırım, Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysi Aktaş, who have been imprisoned in the prison island of Imrali along with Abdullah Öcalan. The lawyers were reportedly given no information about the reason for the ban. According to the reports, the Imrali Prison Directorate rejected the lawyers' request for the disclosure of information and documents of the ban, citing “security” concerns.
The lawyers will reportedly submit an application to the Bursa High Criminal Court for lifting the ban.
