Nasim Gholami Simiari stands trial
Hearing of the trial against six human rights defenders, including Nasim Gholami Simiari, was held at the Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court on Sunday.
News Center- Six human rights defenders, Nasim Gholami Simiyari, Hamidreza Sahlabadi, Ehsan Ravazjian Amin Sokhanvar, Ali Harati Mokhtari, Hossein Mohammad Hosseini, stood trial on Sunday on charges of “assembly and collusion against national security”, “disturbing the public order”, “Propaganda against the state”, “destroying public property” and “membership in an illegal organization”.
At the hearing held by the Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, Nasim Gholami Simiari denied all charges, stressing that she had been coerced into a forced confession. The judge informed the defendants and their lawyers that the trial had concluded, and a verdict would be announced soon.
On May 14, 2023, Nasim Simiari was taken into custody by intelligence agents of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and transferred to a detention center in Evin prison. The intelligence agents confiscated her personal belongings, including identification documents, mobile phones and computer after searching her house.
After being held in pre-trial detention in the women’s ward of Evin prison for seven months, she started a hunger strike to protest the continuation of temporary detention and uncertain conditions in November 2023. After two weeks, she ended her strike after the authorities gave her positive promises.
