Mozhgan Kavousi completes her prison sentence
Mozhgan Kavousi, a Kurdish researcher and translator, has completed her 12-month prison sentence.
News Center- Mozhgan Kavousi, a Kurdish researcher, translator and activist in Iran, has completed her 12-month prison sentence.
Mozhgan Kavousi released a video on her social media page, announcing that she completed her prison sentence.
November 18, 2019, Mozhgan Kavousi was arrested when agents from the Islamic Republic Guards Corps (IRGC) raided her father's home in Nowshahr.
On December 19, 2019, she was released from prison on a bail of 100 million tomans.
On December 24, 2019, she was sentenced to eight months in prison on charges of “propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic”, 18 months on charges of “insulting the Supreme Leader” and 39 months on charges of “assembly and collusion against national security”.
Her sentence was reduced to 12 months after the request of the activist for retrial was accepted by the Branch 39 of the Supreme Court of Iran. On December 18,2023, she was rearrested after being summoned to the Kelardasht Criminal Execution Office and she was transferred to Tonekabon Central Prison to serve her sentence.
On June 15, 2024, she began to serve the rest of her prison sentence outside the prison.
