New  Center- Violence against women and femicide continue to increase in Turkey. Süleyman Güngörmüş killed his wife Melek Güngörmüş in the Silivri district of İstanbul.

On January 18, Süleyman Güngörmüş choked his wife Melek Güngörmüş to death in Silivri district of İstanbul.

Süleyman Güngörmüş was taken into custody and then sent to court after the procedures at the police station. The court sent him to prison.

Melek’s family demands the perpetrator to receive the heaviest prison sentence and Melek’s sister Şimal Yazıcı says, “My sister becomes the last victim of femicide.”
