Gaza- The Hiwar Center for Youth and Women’s Empowerment organized a meeting in the Gaza Strip on August 15 to discuss researcher Reem Farhat’s book entitled, “The Role of Palestinian Women in Struggle in the Gaza Strip during the Second Intifada (2000-2006)”.
Making the opening speech at the meeting, Dr. Mariam Abu Daqqa said, “It is time for Palestinian women to write their experiences because they have their history of struggle. They take part in the Palestinian National Liberation Movement and their role in the struggle should not be forgotten. The history of women’s struggle in the military, economy and politics must be documented.”
Speaking to NuJINHA, researcher Reem Farhat said, “I worked hard for a year to complete the book. The book consists of five chapters and reveals the role played by Palestinian women in the struggle.” She also called on political powers in Palestine to highlight women's issues, document what women have experienced. She also includes the figures of the annual reports of women's organizations in the Gaza Strip in her book.
