Jihadists of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham committed a massacre in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo, resulting in the killing of an entire family of six, including three children, after their home was directly targeted.

News Center_ Kurdish neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo are facing intense shelling carried out by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham jihadists, who are deliberately targeting residential buildings and civilians using drones, artillery, and heavy weapons. This escalation has led to the killing and injury if dozens of civilians, most of them women and children.

As military escalation continues in the Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zaid neighborhoods of Aleppo, the suffering of unarmed civilians is worsening as they find themselves under direct attack. Local sources reported on Friday morning, January 9, that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham militants committed a massacre last night after targeting a residential home in Sheikh Maqsoud.

The shelling resulted in the death of an entire family consisting of six people, including three children, all of whom were inside their home at the moment the shells struck. According to available information, the victims included the father, Amin Rasho, and his daughter Zainab Amin Rasho. Sharfin Hassan, the wife of Amin’s son, was also killed. The tragedy did not end there, as it extended to Sharfin Hassan’s three children—Noura Rasho, Amin Rasho, and Mira Rasho—all of whom were killed under the rubble of the targeted house.

Amin Rasho’s wife, Noura Hassan, sustained severe injuries as a result of the shelling and is currently receiving treatment at Khaled Fajr Hospital in Sheikh Maqsoud, which itself was also subjected to shelling.

This massacre comes as part of a series of attacks targeting residential neighborhoods in Aleppo, underscoring that civilians are the first and greatest victims of this military escalation. As such massacres continue to be repeated, fears are mounting of a worsening humanitarian situation, amid the absence of any guarantees to protect residents or halt the war machine that claims lives indiscriminately.
