Many women detained in Amed

In the morning, police raided the building of Rosa Women’s Association and many houses. Many people have been reportedly detained.

Amed – In the morning, police raided the building of Rosa Women’s Association located in the Kayapınar district of Diyarbakır Province. As the police search is going on in the building, according to received reports, police raided many houses in the city. Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Diyarbakır Co-chair Seval Gülmez and Peace Mother Nezahat Teke are among those who have been detained in the city.

The reason for the raids on the association and houses is still unknown. “The door of our association was unlawfully broken. Police began to search our building while there were no association’s managers there. We don’t accept the systematically judicial harassment on us. Against the ruling party’s policies of hatred and intimidation against women, we were here, we are here and we will be here,” says the tweet posted on the association’s Twitter account.

22 women have been reportedly detained in Diyarbakır. Names of detained people are as follows;
