“Let's Build Peace Together” workshop from Peace Mothers

Members of Peace Mothers came together for the workshop held in Sulaymaniyah with the motto, “Let’s Build Peace Together”. During the workshop, the mothers discussed many issues about their region such as the attacks on the region and the attempt to change the demographic structure of the region. At the end of the workshop, the mothers called for national unity.

Sulaymaniyah- The workshop held in Sulaymaniyah with the participation of Peace Mothers from Turkey, Iran, NE Syria and Federal Kurdistan Region to discuss the attacks on the Federal Kurdistan Region. The workshop was held at the İbrahim Ehmed Meeting Hall with the motto, “Let’s Build Peace Together”.

“We should stop the war”

Peace Mother Fewziye Ebdulkerim made the opening speech of the workshop. “All mothers should work to end the war because mothers are respected in their societies. We should stop the war to have peace in the country,” she said in her speech.

“They attack our language and culture”

Sinur Kerim, a teacher and activist, also made a speech and she highlighted that some mothers participating in the workshop lost their children, “They were also our children. We are being killed in our homeland by invaders. They attack our language, culture, land and country.”

“They want to change the demographic structure of the Kurdish regions”

Pakistan Muhammed, the co-chair of the Makhmur Refugee Camp, gave a presentation about the attacks on the region. “The invaders attack the Kurdish regions because they know the Treaty of Lausanne, which was signed a century ago, will end in 2023. All the occupying forces unite against the Kurds. They burn forests and want to change the demographic structure of the Kurdish regions. They test all advanced weapons on the Kurds. These attacks are against the rules of international law. Turkey wants to realize its Ottoman dream. But we, as women, will not allow this,” Pakistan Muhammed said.

“They aimed to take achievements of Kurds”

Kongre Star member Berivan Mihemed also gave a presentation titled, “Occupation in Western Kurdistan.” In her presentation, she said, “The fight in Rojava was not just a fight against the Baath regime but also against all systems that wanted to annihilate the Kurds. The aim of the attacks on Rojava was to take the achievements of the Kurds, but they failed.”

“We need national unity”

At the end of the workshop, the mothers called for national unity against the attacks of Turkey and Iran on the Federal Kurdistan Region. “Political parties must unite and ensure national unity. We should stand against the attacks of Turkey together.”
