Lebanon… Fears of Escalating Clashes as Death Toll Rises to 123

Tensions intensify on Lebanon’s southern front amid Israeli attacks, with 123 killed and 683 injured, raising fears of wider clashes and worsening humanitarian conditions across the regio

News Center_ In recent days, Lebanon has witnessed a notable escalation on its southern border, where clashes have intensified and mutual shelling has increased amid rising regional tensions. The military developments have been accompanied by fears that the situation could slide into a broader confrontation.

The death toll from the ongoing Israel attacks on Lebanon has risen to 123 people killed and 683 injured, according to the Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Labanes Ministry of Health, announced on Thursday evening, March 5.

The center explained that these figures include victims who have fallen since the beginning of the Israeli attacks early Monday morning, amid an unprecedented military escalation in the southern border areas.

The escalation comes as airstrikes and artillery shelling continue to target several southern villages and towns, leading to widespread destruction of infrastructure and property, in addition to waves of internal displacement toward safer areas. Field sources indicate that military operations are particularly concentrated near areas adjacent to the Blue Line, raising concerns about a possible expansion of the confrontations.

This escalation is considered part of the broader rising regional tensions, as the region witnesses rapid developments that increase the likelihood of a wider confrontation. Meanwhile, Lebanese health authorities continue to raise the level of readiness in public and private hospitals, with calls for medical and logistical support to cope with the growing number of casualties.
