Kurdish writer Mujgan Kawsi launches indefinite hunger strike

Writer Mujgan Kawsi, a political prisoner from Eastern Kurdistan, launched an indefinite hunger strike on May 16 to protest the policies of the Iranian regime, the Ministry of Justice and the prison administration. Kurdistan Human Rights Network has announced that Mujgan Kawsi's demands are not personal, but all prisoners' demands.

News Center - Kurdish writer Mujgan Kawsi, who was detained and jailed many times for being a human rights activist by the Iranian regime, launched an indefinite hunger strike in Evin Prison. Mujgan Kawsi has reportedly launched the hunger strike on May 16 to protest the policies of The Iranian regime, the Ministry of Justice, and the prison administration.

According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, political prisoner Mujgan Kawsi has held the indefinite hunger strike in Evin Prisoner in Tehran since May 16. “Her demands are not personal demands,the hunger strike launched by her is a criticism against the prison authorities and the Iranian judiciary's attitude towards all prisoners,” the Kurdistan Human Rights Network says.

Her prison sentence was increased from 69 months to 76 months!

Mujgan Kawsi was detained on November 16, 2019, in the Noshehir city of Iran. She was sent to Italat Prison located in the Sari city, capital of the Mazandaran Province. She was transferred to Noshahr Prison on December 10, 2019, and she was tried by a revolutionary court in the same city on December 19, 2019. She was sentenced to 69 months in prison. Then, she was released on bail. The Mazandaran Supreme Court increased her prison sentence to 76 months.

Kurdish writer and activist Mujgan Kawsi was arrested again on May 19, 2020, and she was sent to Kira Prison. In June 2020, she was transferred to Evin Prison in Tehran.
