Kurdish journalist Jina Modares ordered to report to Sanandaj Prison

Jina Modares Gorji, a Kurdish journalist, women’s rights defender who was sentenced to two years and four months in prison in October 2024, has been ordered to report to Sanandaj prison.

News Center- Jina Modares Gorji, a Kurdish journalist and women’s rights defender, announced on her social media account that she received a notice on October 22 from the Sanandaj Criminal Enforcement Court, ordering her to report to Sanandaj prison on Saturday.

Jina Modares Gorji has been arrested many times since September 22. On May 24, 2024, she was notified that Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court has sentenced her to ten years in prison on the charge of “forming groups and association with the intention of disturbing the national security,” ten years in prison for “collaboration with a hostile government,” and one year in prison on the charge of “propaganda activities against the state.”

On October 7, 2024, the Kurdistan Court of Appeal reduced her prison sentence to two years and four months.
