Kurdish activist arrested to serve her prison sentence
Kurdish political activist Zhila Hojabri has been arrested and transferred to the Juvenile Detention Centre in Sanandaj to serve her three years and eight months prison sentence.
News Center- Kurdish political activist Zhila Hojabri has been arrested and has been transferred to the Juvenile Detention Center in Sanandaj to serve her three years and eight months prison sentence, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported on Wednesday.
Zhila Hojabri, a Kurdish political activist from Marivan, was arrested in August 2023 by security forces in Bukan, West Azerbaijan Province. After undergoing several weeks of interrogation at a security detention center in Urmia, she was transferred to Urmia Central Prison and then to the Juvenile Detention Centre in Sanandaj after being held in Urmia Central Prison for a month.
After being held in the Juvenile Detention Centre in Sanandaj for several months, she was temporarily released on bail.
In January 2024, she was sentenced to seven years in prison on charges of “membership in opposition groups”, “propaganda against the state” and “insulting a government official”. Then her prison sentence was reduced to three years and eight months.
