Kongreya Star declares June 23 as “Day of combating political femicides”
Kongreya Star commemorated its three members, who were killed in the Helince village of Kobanî on June 23 and announced that they have declared June 23 as the “Day of combating political femicides.”
News Center- Kongreya Star Coordination, a confederation of women's organizations in Rojava, Syria, released a statement to announce that they will organize activities on June 23 to commemorate their three members, who were killed in the Helince village of Kobanî on June 23, 2020. Kongreya Star announced in the statement that they have declared June 23 as the “Day of combating political femicides.” In the statement, Sema Yüce, who lost her life in Çanakkale Prison on 17 June 1998, was also commemorated.
In the statement, Kongreya Star also greets the hunger strikes staged against isolation (the hunger strikes staged by political prisoners in Turkey), states that the women's struggle will achieve victory.
“As Kongreya Star, we declare June 23 as the “Day of combating political femicides”. We will organize actions on June 23 every year to grow the struggle. We will organize activities between June 17 and June 30. The messages of Sema Yüce and Zeynep Kınacı will be read. We will organize seminars. Actions will take place in every city. A festival will be organized. A photograph exhibition will be organized. We will discuss violence against women. And the attacks on Başûrê Kurdistan will be displayed. The commemoration ceremony will be held in Kobanî, Shehba, and Dêrik for the Martyrs of Helince on June 23. We call on all women to participate in these activities. We must stand against all political femicides and protect the women's revolution.”
