News Center- Kongreya Star has issued a written statement on the International Day for the Elimination Violence Against Women. In the statement, Kongreya Star calls on UN Women to work together against Turkish attacks and crimes in NE Syria. “Women in northern Syrian organize themselves on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination Violence Against Women and condemn all forms of violence against women,” the women say in the statement.

“Women are taken captive and abducted”

In the statement, Kongreya Star states that Turkey and Turkish-backed factions continue to violate international laws and human rights in Northern and Eastern Syria. “We have faced a military, economic, ecological and psychological war. The people living in the occupied areas have faced abduction, torture, arbitrary arrest and use of chemical weapons. The demographic structure of these areas has been changed. Women have been taken captive and abducted. They have been tortured in prisons of Turkey.  The women have been killed or they kill themselves because they find no way out.”

“Women face the practices of ISIS”

“All areas in NE Syria are under the threat of Turkey,” Kongreya Star emphasizes in the statement, adding, and “The cells of ISIS are active. The whole world was shocked by the crimes of ISIS against women. But they remain silent against ongoing rape, violence and torture against women and the abduction and murders of women in the occupied areas. Many reports reveal that the practices against women in the occupied areas are the same as the practices of ISIS.”

“We will continue to struggle”

In the statement, Kongreya Star states that they will work every day of the year to deliver the security and stability to everyone like all women's organizations working for women's freedom. “We do our best to protect women against violence. We will continue to struggle until we will stop ongoing war and occupation. “

“We should work together”

Recalling that the main responsibility of the UN is to defend peace, Kongreya Star calls on UN Women to work together against attacks on women. “UN Women has an important role in defending peace. We call on UN Women to prevent the hostility and brutal attacks of the Turkish state and to push the international community to establish a UN commission to investigate the crimes of the Turkish state in Northern Syria and to push the Turkish state to end its occupation and withdraw from NE Syria in order to ensure safe spaces for refugees to return to their homes.”
