News Center- The Kongra Star Coordination has released a written statement condemning the attack on a woman at a motorbike show in the Hiwan neighborhood of Sulaymaniyah. In the statement, the Kongra Star demanded the perpetrators be prosecuted.

The statement released by the Kongra Star is as follows:

“The slogan Jin, Jiyan, Azadî has become the slogan of everyone resisting sexism, racism and oppression. Women are on the frontline of resistance. In addition, women led the revolution in Rojava by fighting ISIS. In Rojava Kurdistan, many women struggling for their freedom and for the freedom of all women were targeted. In 2022, many women became victims of femicide; women were targeted in all spheres of life. The protests that started in Rojhilat Kurdistan have continued for more than three months. Women are on the frontline of the protests to raise their voices against the patriarchal, sexist, religious and nationalist mentality. However, several days ago, a woman was subjected to the attacks of men while visiting a motorbike and car show in Sulaymaniyah.

The perpetrators must be prosecuted

“As Kongra Star Coordination, we strongly condemn this incident. The perpetrators detained by the Asayish of Sulaymaniyah must be prosecuted. And the court decision must set a precedent and women’s rights must be protected by law. We call on all women’s organizations in Bashur Kurdistan to struggle in order to change the gendered mentality; they play an important role in raising public awareness. We say that the jin, jiyan, azadi process has begun and we will keep struggling until we succeed in this path. Our struggle will prevail with the solidarity of society and women. Jin, Jiyan, Azadî.”
