Kongra Star holds its annual meeting in Qamishlo

Yesterday, the Kongra Star, an umbrella organization for all women's organizations in NE Syria, held its annual meeting in Qamishlo, NE Syria with the participation of its members to discuss the works they carried out during the year.

The annual meeting of the Kongra Star was held with the participation of its partner organizations in nine districts and 20 towns. We spoke to Ibtîsam El Huseyin, the director of the Kongra Star in Qamishlo Canton, and Şaha Xelîl, the spokesperson of the Kongra Star in Qamishlo Canton, about the meeting.

The meeting held yesterday was the eighth meeting of the Kongra Star. “We, as Kongra Star in Qamishlo, launched a campaign with the motto, “It’s time for freedom,” after holding our eighth conference. We decided to take this campaign to the next level at the meeting,” Ibtîsam El Huseyinsaid, “What is interesting is that women created their own opportunities to organize themselves. There was a great interest in education courses organized to change the male-dominant mentality. We can say that women feel more confident when they organize themselves.”

“We held our annual meeting despite all attacks and forms of violence against us,” Şaha Xelîl said, “We had a very important year of struggle and discussed it. At the meeting, women expressed many different opinions to solve the problems of society and women.”
