Kongra Star condemns genocidal attacks on Alawites in Syria

In a statement, Kongra Star condemned the genocidal attacks carried out by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) against the Alawite community in Syria, accusing the government in Damascus of committing the genocidal attacks.

News Center- Kongra Star issued a statement in front of the Mohammed Sheikho Culture and Art Center in Qamishlo on Monday, condemning the genocidal attacks carried out by the jihadist Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) against the Alawite community in Latakia, Tartus and Homs.

In the statement, Kongra Star called on the international community and human rights organizations to fulfill their responsibilities for stopping the genocidal attacks on the Alawite community.

The statement issued by Kongra Star is as follows:

“In recent days, women, children and oppressed people have been subjected to massacres, brutal inhumane treatment and oppression by the members of HTS and its armed groups in Alawite majority cities such as Latakia, Homs and Tartus. Crimes and genocidal attacks against a defenseless community are inhumane and unacceptable.

These genocidal attacks against Syrian citizens are a representation of the activities of jihadist groups. Many children, women and poor families have been killed in the attacks. Although the armed groups see those they have killed as supporters of the old regime, their aim is to implement a jihadist mindset, system and radical Islam.

‘Their mindset is against freedom, equality and fraternity’

The silence of the international community and the United Nations against these crimes against humanity is unacceptable. Their silence raises concern. They must take an immediate stance against the killing of children, women, and people from different identities in order to stop the ongoing genocidal attacks. These attacks aim to drag Syria into chaos, war and conflict again. The government in Damascus aims to both strengthen its own power and to intimidate Syrian society in order to prevent them from demanding peace, freedom, and equality because its mindset is against freedom, equality and fraternity.

‘Women must raise their voices against these genocidal attacks’

We call on the international community, the United Nations and the relevant organizations to break their silence and take a firm stance against the attacks. Since the government in Damascus shows hostility against people, women and children from different ethnic groups, it will not be able to build a safe future and an equal and free system for Syrian society.

As Kongra Star, we strongly condemn the recent attacks on the Alawite community. We call on women all around the world to raise their voices against these genocidal attacks and struggle against this jihadist mindset. Once again, we call on all Syrian women to unite against the genocidal attacks.

It is time to raise our voices, to organize and to call for a free, equal, democratic and peaceful life.”
