Kobanî- Kobanî Women's Council held its annual meeting in Kobanî to discuss the activities and works of the council in 2021. Leyla Ehmed, the co-chair of the council, made the opening speech. Referring to their works and activities during the year, Leyla Ehmed stated that they have held 532 meetings during the year. “Policies should be produced for women and communal organizations should become widespread,” she said in her speech.
“Women have established their own organizations”
NuJINHA spoke to Xedîca Hemo, the manager of the Agriculture Committee, about the meeting. “Women of Rojava have established their own organizations and spread them. During the meeting, we discussed our financial and other needs. We made many decisions to respond to the needs. We didn’t only discuss our works during the year but also our achievements and deficiencies,” she told us.
“We want to overcome our deficiencies”
Stressing that women want to overcome their deficiencies by launching new projects, Xedîca Hemo said, “We want to overcome our deficiencies by launching new projects. We want to save women from the management mentality of men. We worked hard and must work harder. We will take steps to increase women’s participation in the labor force, organization and education.”
