Journalists: “Many civilians were killed in Turkey’s attacks on Rojava”

“All countries remain silent against Turkey’s attacks on Rojava and their silence means that they are party to what is going on,” say journalists, who witnessed Turkey’s attacks.

EBÎR MUHEMED

Qamishlo- Turkey’s military operations launched in Rojava on October 9, 2019 continue. International NGOs keep reporting that many civilians have been killed; hospitals and schools have been targeted in Turkey’s attacks. Sterk TV reporter Hevin Ehmed and Aryen TV reporter Duwa Sedo have witnessed what is going on in the region. They spoke to our news agency about the effects of Turkey’s attacks on the region.

Stating that Turkey wants to destroy the Democratic Nation project, Hevin Ehmed said, “The Turkish state aims to carry out its policy across Kurdistan by eliminating the Democratic Nation project. The Turkish state has attacked Kurdistan in Rojava since October 9, 2019. In the last month, it attacked Ayn Issa, Til Temir and its countryside. Many civilians were killed, wounded and forcibly displaced in the attacks.” Hevin Ehmed also told us that many schools were targeted, “The attacks of Turkey took place in front of the Russian forces and the Damascus government forces. But they remain silent against these attacks. The Turkish state aims to occupy all regions in NE Syria just as it occupied Afrin, Serêkani and Girê Spî. The Turkish state transfers other families in the occupied areas to change their demographic structure.”

“Journalists are targeted”

Hevin Ehmed indicated that Turkey tries to build fear in the region to forcibly displace the people in NE Syria. “Every day, we see Turkish fighter jets and drones. They don’t allow people to live in peace. They also target civilians. Journalists are also targeted; the reporters of Sterk TV and Ronahi TV were targeted in a bombardment. The people of this region always tell us they will never leave their homes.”

“All countries remain silent”

Aryen TV reporter Duwa Sedo talked about Turkey's attacks on Rojava and said, “The Turkish state aims to carry out its policy across Kurdistan by eliminating the Democratic Nation project, which is a model for the world. The citizens of the region face forced displacement. Hundreds of people have been killed, raped, forcibly displaced since the beginning of the attacks. We say to the human rights organizations and states that innocent children are being killed. All countries remain silent and their silence means that they are party to what is going on.”
