Journalists in France take to streets for their colleagues killed in Palestine
Hundreds of journalists took to the streets of France’s Paris and Marseille on Wednesday, condemning Israel’s attacks targeting journalists in the Gaza Strip.

News Center- Hundreds of journalists joined demonstrations held in France’s Paris and Marseille cities on Wednesday to show solidarity with their colleagues killed in the Gaza Strip and condemn Israel’s attacks targeting journalists in the enclave since October 7, 2023.
More than 200 journalists laid down on the steps of the Opéra Bastille in Paris as the names of the reporters killed in Gaza were read out. They wore red-stained press signs and fake flak jackets as they carried photographs of journalists killed in Gaza.
Youssef Habash, leader of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate in Europe, condemned the “genocide” in Gaza and demanded an end to the Israeli blockade on the enclave.
“There have never been so many casualties in our profession. The right of citizens worldwide to be informed is compromised," said Pablo Aiquel, Secretary General of SNJ-CGT, speaking on behalf of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).
“This gathering comes late, perhaps too late. I have never seen a conflict where when journalists die; they are called a terrorist,” said Thibaut Bruttin, Director General of Reporters Without Borders (RSF).
Marseille
In Marseille, about 160 people gathered at the Old Port, staged a minute's silence in memory of journalists killed in Gaza and then read out the names of the killed journalists.
About 200 journalists have been killed in Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, according to the Gaza’s health ministry.
