Journalist Nurcan Yalçın sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison

Journalist Nurcan Yalçın has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison on the charge of “aiding an organization knowingly and willingly”.

Amed- Journalist Nurcan Yalçın was sued with an accusation of “aiding an organization knowingly and willingly” for the statements she used in an interview she made with some people waiting in front of the barricades before the 24-hour curfew declared in Diyarbakır's Sur district between 2015-2016.

The final hearing of the trial against the journalist was held by the Diyarbakır 4th High Criminal Court. During the hearing, the lawyers of Nurcan Yalçın said that their client is a journalist and the documents submitted to the court by the police station prove her journalism. The lawyers demanded the release of the journalist.

The Diyarbakır 4th High Criminal Court has sentenced Nurcan Yalçın to two years and six months in prison on charges of “aiding an (terrorist) organization knowingly and willingly”.
