‘Jineology will light the way of women all over the world’

Jineology, women’s science, will light the way of women all over the world, said women, who participated in the conference of the Jineology Academy. “Our aim is to spread the ‘Jin,Jiyan,Azadi’ philosophy.”

Hasakah-The Jineology Academy of North and East Syria held its second conference in the city of Hasakah, Jazira Canton of North and East Syria, between September 25-26 with the motto, “Women's Wisdom is Updated by Jineology”. NuJINHA spoke to several women participating in the conference.

“Jineology is of great importance because it is a new science by women,” said Orifan Abdi, member of the Jineology Center in North and East Syria. Leader Öcalan writes that women should rewrite their history and reveal their hidden truths in his book titled Sociology of Freedom (2008). We must reveal women’s role in history and in society. We must do our best to take back the rights stolen from women.”

‘We aim to strengthen women through education’

Educational programs are an important tool to achieve gender equality, Orifan Abdi emphasized. “We attach great importance to education. Our educational programs on many topics such as gender, free-common life, women’s history and many more continue. We aim to strengthen women through education. When women get to know their true nature, they will bring a social change. Gender equality can be achieved by changing men’s mentality. Jineology is one of the gains of the women’s revolution.”

 ‘We rewrite history’

“There is definitely a criticism of the positive scientific method that emerged at the beginning of the last century (referring to the early 20th century),” said Alya Osman, a member of the Jineology Academy. “We do not assume that we will find a new research method. On the contrary, we will rely on the legacy of science. We want to benefit from the experiences of women all around the world through the history of the Middle East and women’s history and sciences. We rewrite history through Jineology.”

 Distinction between subject and object

Alya Osman also talked about the importance of overcoming the distinction between subject and object. “One of the methodological problems is the distinction between subject and object. I mean that every person sees herself/ himself as a subject and everything around her/him as a material object. This approach influences every individual in society, from the relationship between women and men, the relationship with nature. This leads to the erasure of identity for peoples and the deprivation of humanity from ethnic meaning and freedom.”

‘Truth requires evaluation from all sides’

Alya Osman mentioned the mistake made in the methodology of separating the sciences. “It is not possible to solve a problem without solving problems holistically. The method of Jineology is based on evaluation from all sides because truth requires evaluation from all sides.”

‘Women develop the reality of ethical society’

Alya Osman also said that they benefited from the thoughts of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and the Kurdish Women's Freedom Movement. “Women are those who seek the truth and develop the reality of ethical society. Jineology is a science that will light the way of women all over the world. Our aim is to spread the ‘Jin,Jiyan,Azadi’ philosophy.”
