Jineology Magazine editor-in-chief Rojda Yıldız detained in Amed
At police raids on language organizations in Amed, many people, including Jineology Magazine editor-in-chief Rojda Yıldız and a teacher, have been detained.
News Center- As part of an investigation launched by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in 2022, Turkish police conducted raids on the Research Association for Languages and Culture of Mesopotamia (MED-DER), the Kurdish bookstore Payîz Pirtûk, the Anka Language and Art Cooperative and many houses in Amed (Diyarbakır) on September 24, 2024, detaining many people.
According to the received reports, a confidentiality order has been issued on the investigation and the detained people were taken to the Diyarbakır Counter-Terror Department.
Two more people were reportedly detained in Amed last night, September 25, as part of the same investigation; Jineology Magazine editor-in-chief Rojda Yıldız and Mehmet Selim Temel, a teacher at the Anka Language and Art Cooperative. Cihat Güney, the owner of Payîz Pirtûk who was detained on September 24, was reportedly released from custody following the completion of the legal procedure at the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
