News Center- Israel launched hundreds of airstrikes in southern and eastern Lebanon on Monday.

At least 492 people, including 35 children and 58 women, were killed and 1,645 others injured in the airstrikes, Lebanon’s health ministry announced on Monday night.

Israeli airstrikes in southern and eastern Lebanon, forced thousands of residents from the cities of Tyre, Nabatieh, and Iqlim al-Tuffah to flee towards Beirut and Mount Lebanon.

Hezbollah responds

Following Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, Lebanon’s Hezbollah announced in statements on Tuesday that it launched six missile attacks in northern Israel, targeting two military airports, a military base and an explosives factory. Hezbollah claimed that the Fadi 1 and Fadi 2 rockets were used to target Israeli positions, including Afoula, Megiddo, and the explosives factory in Zikhron Yaakov.

Hezbollah said on Monday that its senior leader Ali Karaki is safe and moved to a safe place after he was targeted in an Israeli strike on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut.

UNICEF: At least 24 children killed in southern Lebanon

“I am deeply alarmed by the ongoing surge of attacks in Lebanon and Israel, which earlier today reportedly claimed the lives of at least 24 children in southern Lebanon,” UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said Monday in a statement on the increase in attacks in Lebanon and Israel. “The intensifying violence represents a dangerous escalation for civilians in the area.

“According to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, more than 1,200 people were injured on Monday, including children and women. Countless more children are in danger, with thousands of families displaced from their homes, and attacks on civilian infrastructure.”
