Israel’s attacks on Rafah killed more than 100 Palestinians and injured more than 200 Palestinians
News Center- Israel conducted strikes on Rafah, a city in the southern Gaza Strip, early Monday. More than 100 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed and more than 200 Palestinians were injured in the Israeli strikes on Rafah, Palestinian news agency WAFA reported. According to the health authorities in Rafah, the casualties were rushed to hospitals across the city.
The WAFA also reported that Israeli warplanes had launched approximately 40 airstrikes, targeting numerous homes and mosques sheltering displaced individuals across the city.
Israel: Two hostages rescued
Israel has announced that the Israeli army rescued two hostages in a raid on the Gaza Strip early Monday that killed at least 50 Palestinians. The army identified the rescued hostages as Fernando Simon Marman, 60, and Louis Har, 70, abducted by Hamas militants from Kibbutz Nir Yizhak on October 7.
PRCS: Israeli airstrikes targeted residential homes
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) announced that the Israeli airstrikes on Rafah targeted homes near the Red Crescent headquarters. Suhaib Al-Hams, director of Kuwait Hospital in Rafah, said the hospital is overwhelmed with seriously wounded patients and lacks sufficient medications and supplies.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced on February 1, 2024 that Israeli forces would continue their Gaza military campaign to Rafah. On February 4, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israeli forces would launch a military ground operation in Rafah. On Sunday, he defended his intention to launch a military ground operation in Rafah.
