Hasakah- On January 27, the General Command of Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria Region announced that they launched the third phase of Operation Humanity and Security against ISIS sleeper cells and the people supporting the activities of ISIS in the al-Hol camp with the support of the Women's Defense Units (YPJ) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The security forces have seized many military materials used by ISIS and captured many ISIS members in the Muhajîrat section of the camp.

‘We launched a new operation to prevent new attacks’

In an interview with NuJINHA, Rûken Cemal, Spokesperson of the YPJ Media Center, spoke about the third phase of the operation. “The al-Hol camp is the most dangerous camp in the world and the Muhajîrat section of the camp is the most dangerous section in the camp. The Turkish state has recently intensified its attacks on North and East Syria. The Turkish state attempted to target the members of the Women's Internal Security Forces while they were on their way from Qamishlo to al-Hol camp by using its drones. We launched the third phase of the operation to prevent new attacks against women and our people.”

 ‘ISIS aims to strengthen itself in the camp’

Female members of ISIS stay in the Muhajîrat section of the camp. “Male members of ISIS wear women’s clothes to disguise themselves. We have arrested male members of ISIS, who disguised themselves by wearing women’s clothes. ISIS aims to strengthen itself in the camp. ISIS members formed a children’s brigade to strengthen itself in the camp.”

‘They have turned everything into tools to kill people’

Male members of ISIS in the Muhajîrat section of the camp are dangerous, said Rûken Cemal. “They have turned everything, even toys, into tools to kill people. Members of the children’s brigade are trained by their mothers aiming to revive ISIS.”

‘We discovered many tunnels’

Recalling how ISIS abducted women and sold them in slave markets, Rûken Cemal said, “ISIS attacked many cities and sold abducted women in slave markets. As YPJ, we have supported the operation to protect women from this mentality. In the first two days of the third phase, we discovered many tunnels used by the members of the children’s brigade. We seized five mines in the tunnels.”

‘They aimed to carry out a new attack’

During the first two days of the operation, the security forces found out that female members of ISIS were organizing themselves for a new attack against the security forces and the visitors. “We seized many killing tools and materials. More than 30 female and male members of ISIS were arrested in two days. Female members of ISIS educate children according to radical Islam. They teach children how they can kill people. Unfortunately, they use children to revive ISIS. Eight children they hid in the tunnels were found by the warriors.”
