Iranian court reduces prison sentence of Mahboobeh Rezaei
An Iranian appeals court has reduced the six-year and three-month prison sentence of Mahboubeh Rezaei, a political prisoner imprisoned in Evin Prison, to five years in prison following an appeal.

News Center- An Iranian appeals court has reduced the six-year and three-month prison sentence of Mahboubeh Rezaei, a political prisoner imprisoned in Evin Prison, to five years in prison following an appeal, lawyer Ali Sharifzadeh Ardakani said in a post on Instagram on Sunday.
In January 2025, Mahboubeh Rezaei’s request for retrial was accepted by the Supreme Court of Iran.
On May 22, 2023, Mahboubeh Rezaei was arrested by Iran’s security forces and transferred to the women's ward of Evin Prison. She was sentenced to six years and three months in prison on charges of “membership of groups opposed to the state with the aim of disrupting national security”, six years and three months on charges of “acting and colluding against national security”, one year on charges of “propaganda against the system” and six years and three months on charges of “insulting Islamic sanctities”.
