Iranian Authorities Issue a Prison Sentence Against a Female Teacher

Sanandaj's Revolutionary Court sentenced teacher and activist Marzieh Muradveisi to two years suspended prison and a fine, amid repeated judicial prosecutions over her previous civil activities.

NEWS CENTER_ Iranian authorities continue to tighten their judicial and security prosecutions against activists and opponents, amid escalating international and human rights organizations' condemnations demanding an end to unfair trials and guaranteeing freedom of expression, in the absence of fair trial conditions inside the revolutionary courts in the country.

The Revolutionary Court in the city of Sanandaj in eastern Kurdistan ruled to sentence Marzieh Muradveisi, a dismissed teacher and former political prisoner, to two years in prison with suspension, in addition to a financial fine of four million tomans.

Marzieh Muradveisi had been subjected to arrest and judicial prosecution repeatedly due to her positions and civil activities; she was arrested in 2021, and a preliminary sentence of two years in prison was issued against her in 2022, before the Court of Appeal decided to reduce it to five months of effective imprisonment and four years with suspension.
