Iran’s Court of Appeal upholds prison sentences of 3 Baha’i women
Iran’s Court of Appeal has upheld the prison sentences of three Baha’i women, Roya Malakouti, Golnoosh Nasiri and Farideh Moradi.
News Center- The Court of Appeal of Mashhad has upheld the prison sentence given to Roya Malakouti, Golnoosh Nasiri and Farideh Moradi. three Baha’i women living in Mashhad.
Farideh Moradi, Golnoosh Nasiri and Roya Malakouti were summoned and interrogated at the end of July 2023 along with six other Baha'i women. Then, Roya Malakouti was arrested and transferred to Vakil Abad prison in Mashhad, Golnoush Nasiri and Farideh Moradi were temporarily released on bail of five billion tomans.
On October 26, 2023, Roya Malakouti was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison, Farideh Moradi and Golnoosh Nasiri were each sentenced to three years and eight months in prison by Branch 1 of the Mashhad Islamic Revolutionary Court on charges of “membership in groups with the intent of undermining national security” and “propaganda against the regime”.
Roya Malakouti has been held in Vakil Abad prison in Mashhad since July.
