News Center- Ameneh Zamani, a children's rights activist, announced Friday on her Instagram account that Kobra Gholami, an Afghan researcher pursuing a master’s degree at Alzahra University, was arrested and then deported to Afghanistan for not complying with the hijab rules although she had legal residency documents.

According to her post, Kobra Gholami was summoned to the passport office after receiving multiple warnings about her hijab. Expressing her concern about the life of Kobra Gholami, Ameneh Zamani said, “Kobra Gholami is now on her way to Afghanistan. She could not even talk or say goodbye to her family and loved ones. We are concerned about her safety on the way and after arriving in Afghanistan.”

Describing the deportation of Kobra Gholami as “illegal”, Ameneh Zamani called on all women's rights activists, civil activists and the people of Iran to prevent the deportation of Kobra Gholami.

In 2023, Kobra Gholami spoke at the 6th Social-Cultural Research Conference in Iran on “Femininity and Social-Cultural Transformation,” criticizing the treatment of Afghan migrant women in Iran.
