Iran… 131 Cities Under Bombardment as Death Toll Surpasses 555
Amid attacks on Iran, the Iranian Red Crescent reports U.S.–Israeli strikes have killed at least 555 people, with 131 cities targeted nationwide since escalation began.
News Center – On February 28, the spark of war on Iran was ignited following a series of large-scale airstrikes. The first day of escalation witnessed heavy bombardment, resulting in dozens killed and wounded and damage to both civilian and military facilities, amid fears the confrontation could widen into an open regional conflict.
Joint Israel–United States attacks intensified on Monday, March 2, targeting the capital, Tehran, and other major urban centers with missiles and combat drones. According to published reports, Tehran was struck 34 times within just 30 minutes, with political and military headquarters, police centers, and the homes of senior leaders of the Islamic Republic reportedly among the primary targets.
The escalation follows repeated strikes on multiple Iranian cities the previous day. Reports and circulated images indicated that the headquarters of Iran’s state broadcasting authority was among the targets. Areas subjected to intense attacks overnight and into the morning included Tehran, Ahvaz, Chabahar, Tabriz, Urmia, Shiraz, Sanandaj, and Kermanshah.
Casualties of the Attacks
The Iranian Red Crescent Society announced that the U.S.–Israeli airstrikes on Iran have so far resulted in at least 555 deaths. It added that 131 cities across the country have been affected since the escalation began.
In Tehran, new explosions were heard this morning, while state media reported that a barrage of missiles struck the western city of Sanandaj, causing widespread infrastructure damage. Media outlets published images showing rescue teams searching through the rubble of destroyed buildings.
