Investıgatııon Launched Agaınst Îlke TV Correspondent Over Report on Gülistan Doku

Turkinsh authorities investigate journalist Zelan Azad over a report on women’s conditions,Gülistan Doku’s disappearance,and “criminal gangs” allegations.

News Center_Investigatiions continue into the disappearance of Gülistan Doku since 2020, amid demands to reveal her fate,and the case has sparked widespread debate in Turkey following divergent statements and testimonies.

On the basis of report titled”Men Play Chess for Free,While Women Try to Survive,”Turkish authorities opened an investigation into Îlke  TV correspondent Zelan Azad.

The investigation followed an interview conducted by journalist Selin Top from the "I Need Peace" initiative, which addressed the file of Gülistan Doku's disappearance, testimonies of women from Dersim, what has been described as "criminal gangs of men," along with allegations that have long been under discussion.

Cem Tekinoğlu, advisor to a Yenî Party MP, filed a complaint against Zelan Azad and Selin Top, accusing the report of containing "insult," "defamation," and "violation of personal rights." Both Zelan Azad and Selin Top are scheduled to give their statements today as part of the investigation.

In a statement, the Press Union affiliated with DİSK Basin-İş affirmed its support for the correspondent, emphasizing that "journalism is not a crime, and news that supports society cannot be silenced through legal pressures and threats."
