Indictment, prison sentence against journalists
The indictments prepared against journalists Bilge Aksu and Mehmet Uçar, who are held in pre-trial detention, have been accepted by Turkish courts. Journalist Özlem Gürses has been sentenced to one year and three months in prison.

News Center- Journalists in Türkiye continue to face trials and prison sentences for their journalistic activities.
Indictments were prepared against journalists Bilge Aksu and Mehmet Uçar, who were detained along with six journalists on November 26, 2024 as part of an investigation launched by the Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The indictment prepared against journalist Bilge Aksu has been accepted by Istanbul 14th High Criminal Court and the indictment prepared against journalist Mehmet Uçar has been accepted by Batman 2nd High Criminal Court. The journalists face prison sentences on charges of “membership in an illegal organization”.
Journalist Özlem Gürses sentenced to one year and three months in prison
The hearing of the trial against journalist Özlem Gürses for her social media posts was held on Thursday.
At the hearing, the journalist’s lawyer Enes Hikmet Ermaner demanded the acquittal of his client while the prosecutor demanded a prison sentence of up to two years against the journalist on charges of “publicly denigrating the military and police organizations of the State”.
The court has sentenced journalist Özlem Gürses to one year and three months in prison, deferring the announcement of verdict and ruled the lift of the travel ban imposed on the journalist.
