At the conference, Rukiye Kara, head of the Pir Sultan Abdal Cultural Association Mamak Branch, criticized the international silence against the massacres committed against the Alawite community and women in Syria.
‘We do not forget those who remained silent in Maraş, Sivas and Dersim’
Rukiye Kara condemned the international silence against the ongoing massacres in Syria and said, “We remember this silence. We do not forget those who remained silent in Maraş, Sivas and Dersim. We are witnesses to the massacres that have been committed in this region from Halabja to Shengal, from Roboski to today. The plans of the imperialist countries to reshape the Middle East continue to kill and displace people. They aim to reshape Mesopotamia and the Middle East with blood. Men, the architects of the patriarchal system, think all kinds of sexual assaults against women and girls during conflict and wars as their legitimate rights. During conflict and wars, women are subjected to all forms of violence, sexual assaults.”
Rukiye Kara announced that they would form a human chain in the Samandağ district of Hatay on April 24, 2025 to protest the ongoing massacres in Syria.
