News Center- Political prisoner Saada Khedirzadeh, who has been on a hunger strike since April 26, 2022, in the Central Prison of Urmia, reportedly felt faint on the 8th day of her hunger strike. The ward of Saada Khedirzadeh has been reportedly raided twice since she started her hunger strike.
“She is eight-month pregnant and suffers from health problems”
Amnesty Iran issued a statement about the health condition of Saada Khedirzadeh on its social media account and said in the statement that Iran’s officials are cruelly toying with the life and health of Kurdish Iranian woman Saada Khadirzadeh, by denying her specialized medical care she requires outside of prison, including for heart and kidney problems.
“She was subjected to intense interrogations”
In the statement, Amnesty Iran drew attention to the arbitrary detention of Saada Khadirzadeh and said, “Since 26 April 2022, Saada Khadirzadeh has been on hunger strike to protest her seven-month-long detention without charge or any information, and the denial of specialized health care, which has left her in very poor health. As part of this protest, Saada Khadirzadeh is also refusing all medication. In late December 2021, prison doctors issued a medical note confirming she required specialized medical care outside of prison, but the prosecution and intelligence officials are barring her from this healthcare. Following her 14 October 2021 arrest by the ministry of intelligence agents in Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan province, Saada Khadirzadeh stated in a leaked audio message from inside the prison that she was held in a ministry of the intelligence detention center in Piranshahr and subjected to intense interrogations before being transferred to the women’s ward of Urumieh prison over three weeks later, where she has been held since then.”
“She has been denied access to a lawyer”
The statement of Amnesty Iran continues as follows, “According to an informed source, Saada Khadirzadeh has never been permitted access to a lawyer since her arrest. Saada Khadirzadeh's detention is arbitrary on the basis that she has been held in lengthy pre-trial detention without being informed of the reason for her arrest and has been denied access to a lawyer.”
