HDK Women’s Council: We will prevail, women will prevail!

The Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) Women’s Council has declared in the final declaration of its 12th General Women’s Conference that women will build a new life and prevail.

News Center- Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) Women’s Council has released the final declaration of its 12th General Women’s Conference held on January 28 with the motto, “Our rebellion is against patriarchy, we insist on having a free and equal life”

The conference was dedicated to Maria Suphi and Jina Mahsa Amini. The final declaration emphasized that the attacks against women and oppressed peoples have increased all over the world and that women respond to the policies of oppression by resisting.

‘The AKP-MHP government poses a threat to women’

The final declaration stated that the AKP-MHP government uses male-state violence as the dominant element in its policies aiming to design society. “Male-state violence is increasingly perpetuated in many forms. The AKP-MHP government, which thinks the Istanbul Convention and Law No. 6284 are their enemy, has become a threat to life and security for women. The murders of İpek Er, Nadira Kadirova, Yeldana Kaharman, Gülistan Doku, Rabia Naz, Hande Kader and many more are the murders in which the AKP-MHP bureaucrats and law enforcement officers played a role.”

‘Women’s rights and lives are taken away from them’

The final declaration also stated that the AKP-MHP government tries to destroy the gains of women with its fascist practices. “The aim of the closure of NGOs and the appointment of trustees to the municipalities is to isolate and leave women alone against male-state violence and to target women’s struggle. The AK-MHP bloc trying to take away the rights and lives of women closed their eyes to the rape and abuse cases in the organizations such as the Ensar Foundation and the Hiranur Foundation. This fascist bloc tries to have a say over our bodies 'once again' in debates on the new draft constitution. As HDK Women’s Council, we oppose the new constitutional amendment proposal,” the final declaration said.

 ‘Isolation affects everyone’

The declaration also mentioned the isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and said, “The isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, who may be the founder of social equality and honorable peace, is openly used to keep the entire society in isolation. The policies of isolation initiated in prisons, affect universities, workplaces, health sector, economy, neighborhoods, streets, women, young people, children and old people.”

‘We will resist’

Underlining that women will resist the war policies of the AKP-MHP government, the declaration said, “The government attacks the opposition with all its might and insists on war policies to overcome the crises that the country suffers from. As it is known, the government has sped up the process of attacking the HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) with the Kobanê Case and filed a closure case against the HDP. We, as women, declare once again that we will resist along with the HDP, which is the main actor in the struggle for democracy, and that this dark mafia-state network will not be able to judge the HDP.”

The declaration also mentioned the upcoming elections in Turkey and said, “We are here, we resist and we will prevail. We exist everywhere! We are determined to build a new life and prevail. Our rebellion is against patriarchy, we insist on having a free and equal life. We will prevail, women will prevail!”
