Hatav Akrami sentenced to 8 months in prison

Hatav Akrami, cousin of the slain Kurdish protester Mehran Akrami, has been sentenced to eight months in prison by Branch 101 of the Bukan Criminal Court.

News Center- Hatav Akrami, cousin of the slain Kurdish protester Mehran Akrami, was sentenced to eight months in prison by Branch 101 of the Bukan Criminal Court on charges of “collaboration with opposition parties against the regime”. The prison sentence has been changed to a fine. 

According to the local sources, the intelligence department in Bukan disagreed with the verdict issued by Branch 101 of the Bukan Criminal Court and referred the case to the Revolutionary Court of Urmia for review.

 Hatav Akrami (42) is the cousin of Mehran Akrami, who was arrested in the city of  Saqqez during the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” protests in 2022 and killed under the torture of the security forces at the Intelligence Office of Saqqez.

On May 30, 2024, Iranian security forces raided Hatav Akrami’s parents’ house in the village of Ingijeh, Bukan. She was released on bail after 25 days in detention.
