Hand Grenade Explosion Kills Young Woman in Rural Daraa
Eastern rural Daraa witnessed another tragic incident caused by war remnants, as a hand grenade exploded near a house in the village of Al-Buwair, killing a young woman.
News Center – The repercussions of war remnants continue to pose a daily threat to civilians’ lives in the city of Daraa, as unexploded ordnance keeps claiming lives and deepening civilian suffering, reflecting the ongoing security and humanitarian risks in the area.
A young woman was killed on Sunday, December 21, when a hand grenade left over from the war exploded near her home in the village of Al-Buwair, in the Al-Lajat area of eastern rural Daraa, which is under the control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham militants, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The Observatory reported that the explosion occurred while the woman was standing near the house, killing her instantly. It added that the total number of victims of war remnants has risen to 674 civilians since the fall of the Baath regime on December 8, 2024, including 205 children and 43 women.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stressed that these figures reflect the scale of the ongoing threat posed by unexploded ordnance to civilian lives across various regions.
