News Center- Hamideh Zeraei, an activist and a master’s student in the field of financial management at Tehran University of Science and Research, was reportedly arrested on Wednesday after being summoned to testify by the Revolutionary Court in Rasht. She was transferred to the Lakan Rasht Prison, according to local sources.
Hamideh Zeraei was first arrested on November 3,2022 during the nationwide protests that sparked in Iran following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini by Iran’s so-called “morality police” after attending the funeral ceremony of Hadis Najafi. After 97 days in detention, she was released after being granted amnesty under the “pardon and commutation” directive.
On May 29,2023, she was arrested again during an armed raid by Revolutionary Guard intelligence forces at her home in Karaj. She was sentenced to one year in prison by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court in Karaj on charges of “propaganda activity for the benefit of groups opposed to the Islamic Republic of Iran”.
After serving nine months in prison, she was released from prison in March 2024.
