Former HDP Istanbul MP Hüda Kaya arrested

Former Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul MP Hüda Kaya was sent to prison after being taken into custody at Istanbul Airport on Wednesday.

News Center- Hüda Kaya, a former member of the Turkish parliament from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), was taken into custody at Istanbul Airport on Wednesday as part of an investigation by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

After her detention, she was sent to prison by the Ankara 4th Criminal Court of Peace as part of the Kobani investigation. The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP) issued a written statement regarding the arrest of Hüda Kaya.

“Hüda Kaya is a rights defender, who never bows to any pressures. She was arrested on World Kobanî Day. The disappointment experienced by those who said, ‘Kobanî has fallen, it will fall’ has turned into a sense of revenge especially against the Kurdish people and our party for years. The arrest of Hüda Kaya on the anniversary of the Kobanî Resistance, a women’s revolution, is also an attack on women's identity.”

The HEDEP also called on everyone to object to the unjust arrest of Hüda Kaya.
