Femicide in Türkiye: 21 women killed by men in May
In May 2025, 21 women were killed by men and 20 more died under suspicious circumstances in Türkiye, said a report released by the We Will Stop Femicide Platform.

21 women were killed by men and 20 more died under suspicious circumstances in May, the report said.
According to the report, out of 21 women, seven women were killed by men on the excuse that they had asked for a divorce, refused marriage or dating proposals and five women were killed by men on the excuse of “financial problems”. The excuse of men, who killed nine women in May, were not determined.
Out of 21 women, five women were killed by their male relatives, four by their husbands, four by their ex-husbands, three by men they knew, two by their partners, one by her ex-partner, one by her son and one by one foreign man.
62% of women killed at their home
In May, 62% of women were killed at their home, the report said. Out of 21 women, 13 women were killed at their home in May, three on the streets, two at their workplaces, two in public spaces and the place where one woman was killed in May was not determined. According to the report, 13 women were shot dead by men, five women were killed with sharp objects, two were choked to death and one was beaten to death.
